Liam Neeson is convinced that his horse “Ballad of Buster Scruggs” recognized him
Neeson paused an action movie between “Cold Pursuit” and his latest star vehicle, “The Commuter”, to star in one of the stories from the Coen brothers’ Netflix anthology “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.” The movie will be Available in selected theaters and on Netflix next month. Neeson, 66, has become a defining facet of the action genre since “Taken” revitalized his career. The actor can be seen in a supporting role with Viola Davis in “Widows” by Steve McQueen, in theaters on November 16.
Summit Entertainment will release “Cold Pursuit” in theaters on February 8, 2019.
Liam Neeson has returned to his ways of revenge, although with a twist. Summit Entertainment has released the first trailer for the upcoming thriller Cold Pursuit, which is a remake of a Norwegian thriller from 2014 called In Order of Disappearance. Neeson plays a man of kind family and good manners that drives a snowplow and lives a pleasant life with his beloved wife (played by the incomparable Laura Dern). But her good life is suddenly altered when her son dies from an overdose of heroin, or at least that’s the story. The character of Neeson is involved in a drug cartel while seeking revenge for the death of his son, by the rear and by the names of Takin.
While that sounds familiar given Neeson’s post-Taken output, the trailer really does offer something of a unique twist: this movie is fun. In fact, it seems that there is a hidden current of dark humor throughout the film, which is perfectly clear with the surprising use of Blue Oyster Cult in this trailer here. If you want to see Neeson back in a fleshy dramatic part, visit Widows later this year (it’s great), but while Cold Pursuit makes fun of his return to the action thriller genre, at least he does it with a sense of humor. In addition, the film is directed by Hans Petter Moland, who directed the Norwegian original.
